Pastor Mike’s Corner
Last week, we talked about the events that can lead up to a mountaintop experience; this week, we will reflect on the changes we experience upon returning from the mountaintop. For Elijah, his encounter with God on Mount Horeb moved him from despondency and apathy to a place of renewed strength and purpose. Before he made his journey to the cave on Mount Horeb, he was ready to give up his life and his fight for God. But his witness of God in deep silence inspired him to go on and anoint kings and mentor his protégé, Elisha.
An experience of the divine can have a similar effect on us. Our hearts and minds may receive a presence of peace, hope, and wisdom as we embrace the Spirit’s message. Or we may be inspired to take action based on the perception of a new calling. We may gain the courage to fulfill a long-desired dream, or we may sense the need to step back in quiet humility.
What kinds of changes have manifested in your life as a consequence of a “mountaintop experience?”
