THE FUTURE AT FIRST

Here is some news you can use from The Future Planning Committee at First Church.

Congregational Survey Results
Thank you to 153 folks who responded to the survey. On July 11, our committee met by Zoom with Savannah Kimberlin of Barna Consulting to review the results.

  • Some celebrations from the survey:
The congregation at First Church is united in its love for music. This topped the list for both 9 and 11 a.m. services.
There is a notable hunger for inter-generational relationships. This was voiced by both the older and younger members.
The majority of congregants agree that First Church is actively addressing social injustices.
  • Some observations from the survey:
The vast majority of parents agree there are too few programs for their children, confirming First Church’s need to prioritize the development of this ministry area in the near future.
Many young adults do not feel like the programs at the church fit the needs of their age group.
Married adults of all ages expressed a desire for more programming, as well.
  • Staffing Needs:
The survey results point to an overwhelming need to focus on programming and move forward with staffing needs. In response, First Church, with the assistance of Barna Consulting, has just launched a nationwide search for a new Next Generation Ministry Director.

Blessings,
Future Planning Committee
