We stream both services Sunday mornings live at 9 and 11 a.m. and both are available to watch later if you can’t watch live. We also have many previous services available to watch if you missed one. Please don’t forget to let us know you are watching with the “I’m Here” button at the top of the page.

Pastor David’s Corner- Takeover! (Sammi’s Corner)

Part 1
Many of us have grown up hearing the song “The 12 Days of Christmas,” but very few people know the origin story behind how that song came to be. In popular culture, the 12 days of Christmas are often referred to as the 12 days leading up to Christmas. However, originally, the 12 days of Christmas were in reference to the 12 days after Christmas, not before. In the Middle Ages, this time of year was considered sacred, celebrating the Christmas story all the way through Christ’s birth to the arrival of the Wise Men.
While this is a fun piece of trivia, for us as Christians, this allows the opportunity for a greater question to ponder, which is how do we celebrate not only the actual holiday and the days leading up to it, but the days after as well? The hustle and bustle and sparkle of Advent is fun and exciting and easy to celebrate, but for many of us, the days after Christmas can feel a lot like a letdown. For those returning to work or school there’s a familiar “back to the grind” feeling, and for those with packed social calendars around the holidays, these days after Christmas, can feel like a screeching halt of all things fun and festive.
But that’s not what God wants for us! God did not do incredible miracles, send Himself down to earth in the form of a child, and offer salvation to all of humanity for us to roll our eyes and apathetically say, “okay the Savior of the World is here, now what?” God did that so we can celebrate Him not just on Christmas Day, but EVERY DAY! The Savior of the World is here and is accessible to us now and forevermore- GET EXCITED! How cool is that?!
I encourage you in the coming days, weeks, and months not to think of this as “post-Christmas” time, but rather an ideal time to get really excited about Jesus. Think of the work that God has done in your life and the ways that He has transformed you through your faith. Think about everything He will continue to do in the future as well! Think about how He wants a relationship with you and how He knows and loves you by name, not just at Christmas time, but all the time! Now THAT is something to celebrate all year long!
