  • New Member Classes in January

Pastor Denny Silk will be hosting a new member orientation class on Monday, January 7, 6 – 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, January 12, 10 – 11:30 a.m. Those interested in attending one of the classes are asked to call the church office to indicate which session you will be attending. If you have questions about the class or about the meaning of membership itself, please contact Pastor Silk.

  • First Fridays Coffee Truck, January 4

Stop by First Church Friday, January 4, between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. for your morning coffee, tea, smoothie and pastries. We will have Drip Coffee & Espresso Truck in our west parking lot.

  • FirstKids Choir Starts Sunday, January 6

Calling all kid singers! Join us on Sunday, January 6 at 10:05 a.m. in room 106, when FirstKids Choir resumes after the holiday break. It’s a great time to see what choir is all about if you haven’t sung with us before. FirstKids choir is open to all kindergarteners – 5th graders. No musical experience is necessary. Everyone is welcome!! We rehearse most Sundays from 10:05 – 10:50 a.m. in room 106 and perform during worship services about once a month. For more information, contact Elizabeth Leyva at elizabeth@firstchurch.church.

  • First Youth Choir Starts Sunday, January 6

If you are in 6th – 12th grade, join us from 4:45 – 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, in room 106, when First Youth Singers starts up again after holiday break. Come find out about auditions for our spring musical and see what choir is about! We rehearse most Sunday afternoons right before youth group and perform during worship services about once a month. For more information, contact Elizabeth Leyva at elizabeth@firstchurch.church.

  • Traffic Changes Sunday, January 20

Traffic changes will be in place on Sunday, January 20 for the Rock and Roll Marathon race. Eastbound Missouri will be closed until 10 a.m. Entering from Central Avenue will be the only way to park in the north and west lots. Everyone will need to enter off Central Avenue from the north (Bethany Home Road) on January 20 if they arrive before 10 a.m. We encourage everyone to come from the north that day to save confusion. The only traffic that will be allowed on Missouri before 10 a.m. will be westbound traffic exiting the church.

  • Guest Preacher Sunday, January 20

Dr. Jeffrey Kwan, President of the Claremont School of Theology, will be preaching at First Church on Sunday, January 20. First Church has a long history with Claremont. Former pastor, Dr. Richard Cain, went from being senior pastor here to serving as the president at Claremont. At least four of our members have served on the Board of Trustees at Claremont. Most recently Doug Dunipace served as chair of the Board. We look forward to having Dr. Kwan on our campus that morning and hope many will take advantage of this opportunity to hear him.
