Scholarship Applications
We are pleased you have decided to apply for a scholarship! Please read the following information in its entirety to learn more about the scholarships, what is expected and important dates.
Important Dates and Requirements
- Applications are to be submitted electronically only.
- Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
- Please submit a photo of yourself with your application.
- Applicants will receive an electronic confirmation that the application has been received. If the confirmation is not received, contact the Business Administrator in the church office immediately.
- Applicants are to forward the electronic confirmation that the application has been received to the Business Administrator in the church office at info@firstchurch.church.
- Contact the Business Administrator if you are applying for the fifth (5) time.
- For additional information or questions, please contact the church office.
- The deadline for non-theological applications for the 2026-2027 academic year is 4 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026. The deadline for theological applications for the 2026-2027 academic year is 4 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Non-Theological Application Guidelines
- Minimum grade point of 2.0 based on a 4.0 scale
- Active and consistent participation at First Church and/or other ministries
- Active and consistent participation beyond the classroom with the community, post-secondary institution and/or work
- Thorough, personal response so the selection committee gets to know you
- Complete an accurate application

Theological Applicants
Theological Studies – The applicant must be a Certified Candidate for the ministry as defined in THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH BOOK OF DISCIPLINE. * All applicants must provide evidence from the Annual Conference of which they are currently a Certified Candidate. Scholarships are to be awarded for education related expenses only. All funds awarded to the Scholarship Recipient will be sent directly to the recipient’s designated school by the Business Administrator of First United Methodist Church.
Please answer the following questions in written form.

1. Please provide your name, address, phone, email address.
2. Briefly describe how your sense of call to ministry has developed.
3. As a certified candidate, where are you in the process of meeting the requirements for the continuation or completion of your candidacy? Please provide a confirmation document of your candidacy.
4. Looking ahead, to what kind of ministry do you feel drawn (local church, campus ministry, chaplaincy, or other specialized ministries?)
5. What is the name of the school you will be attending? Please provide a confirmation document of your enrollment.
6. What dollar amount of support are you requesting and why?
