Creative Arts Camp
For the past five summers, First Church has opened its doors for a week-long Creative Arts Camp. This fun and engaging experience has created endless opportunities for growth and fellowship, not only for the children of our congregation but also within the community. In fact, a large percentage of our attendees are kids from the neighborhood who have attended faithfully every summer since the camp began. We’re so excited to be able to announce our 6th Annual Creative Arts Camp will take place the week of Monday, July 30 to Friday, August 3! The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to any child who has completed kindergarten to those entering 7th grade. All week, the campers take classes in everything from painting and T-shirt design to singing and cooking. We also provide a “Mini-Camp” for children aged 3 – 5 years old. Registration for Creative Arts Camp will be available online at firstchurch.church beginning Monday, May 7. Before and after care is also available for an additional fee. Our camp is always a great way for kids to wrap up their summer and is incredibly popular, so do not delay in getting your little artists, musicians, and tiny dancers registered.
Summer Kids Music
Calling all kids in kindergarten – 5th grade who like music! During June and July, we’ll be exploring musical expression through a variety of games and activities. Summer Music Fun for Kids runs selected Sundays from 10:05-10:50 a.m., in room 106. (Meeting on June 3, June 17, July 1, July 15, July 22, and July 29.) There’s no need to sign up, and you can join us on any of those Sundays. Come have fun with us! For more information, contact Elizabeth Leyva at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Knitting, Sewing, Crocheting
Beginning or advanced, you are invited to participate in the fabric ministries taking place at First Church. We have knitters making hats for children at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and baby blankets for little ones being baptized here. Those who crochet make sitting mats for the children at our Weekday School. We also have sewers making infant clothes, school bags, baby blankets and prayer quilts for our ministries too. If you are interested in any of these groups, please contact Robin Spencer. Come and share. Come and learn.
Do You Want to Play Games?
We are inviting all young adults and adults to try out game playing on Thursdays in June and July at 10 a.m., in the Centennial Room. The first gathering is important so we can determine the interest level. Bring your board games and we will determine the plan together. See you on June 7. If you are not able to attend, please contact Robin at (602) 263-5013, ext. 1107.
Summer Voice Classes for Adults
Summer voice class for adults begins on Thursday, June 14! This class is free of charge and appropriate for all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Individuals will work at their own pace. No prior experience or training is necessary. We will meet for a total of 8 weeks from 7-8:30 p.m., on Thursdays. No worries if you can’t attend every single class, you can still learn a lot! If you have taken the class in the past, you are welcome to take it again. Be sure to reserve your spot now, as space is limited. Class dates are June 14 – August 9, (with no meeting on July 5).
